Does it work without internet?
Yes, entirely. Recognition and speech are built into iOS and Android and run offline. Airplane mode changes nothing.
Which languages can it read?
English, Turkish, German, Spanish and French are tuned and tested. On iPhone, any language the built-in recognizer supports also works.
Is the voice robotic?
It uses the best voice installed on your phone. ReadLens shows you how to download a natural, higher-quality voice from the system settings, free of charge.
Why not just use ChatGPT or Gemini?
They can describe a page, but they summarise and sometimes invent. ReadLens reads exactly what is printed, word for word, and says so when it cannot read something. It also works with no connection and no account.
